The Role Of Molly, The Pregnant Woman

On the “ER” episode featured on the DVD, Sandra DeNise played the role of Molly, the pregnant woman who fell when the balcony collapsed and later went into labor in the emergency room. She is a native of Atlanta and a graduate of New York University who has traveled the country with the national Broadway companies of “Rent,” “Parade,” “Saturday Night Fever,” and “Hairspray.” Here is a photo essay of Sandy showing various steps she went through in her “ER” role.

Brad Palmer of Creative Character Engineering finds the match for Sandra’s skin tone so that it can be used to construct the prosthetic belly to simulate her pregnancy.

Robert Ramos of Creative Character makes a cast of Sandra’s stomach area to be used in constructing the prosthetic belly.

The birth of the baby was filmed before the balcony collapse, so Sandra’s first acting job was as the pregnant woman who had been bruised by the fall.

The prop people help Sandra onto the table on which she will “give birth.”

On the table, Sandra gets hooked up to various implements.

While the scene is in progress, prop people position a slide under Sandra that will be used for the anamatronic baby.

Sandra was not part of the balcony collapse scene; a stunt person acted as her double. But this is how she looked for the recovery scene.
